Reading HypnotherapyHypnosis - The Research

Research has monitored people in hypnosis and it has been found that during normal waking our brainwave patterns are above 13 cycles per second (Beta State).  However, while in hypnosis brainwave patterns reduce to between 8 and 13 cycles per second (Alpha State).  During sleep they are between 4 and 7 cycles per second (Theta State) and 0.5 and 3 cycles per second (Delta State = Deep Sleep).

Berkshire HypnotherapyWhat is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation, achieved in a therapy session by simply listening to the therapist’s voice and, if you choose, relaxing music. Once so wonderfully relaxed it is possible for your subconscious mind to concentrate on positive ideas and behaviours that are beneficial and wanted by you. No one can make you do anything you do not want to do. It is part of the therapist’s job to construct suggestions that are acceptable to your subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy in BerkshireHypnosis is not sleep, your subconscious mind will always be aware of what is being said and where you are, although when so relaxed you may choose not to consciously recall every word. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis, remember it is a natural state and you are always in control.

Would you be surprised to know that you have already been in a light hypnosis many times? When just waking up you will have travelled from sleep, through the alpha state to normal waking. Also when concentrating on a book or television programme, driving a familiar journey, daydreaming while performing a routine task – you are often in a light level of hypnosis.

You cannot be hypnotised against your will – any therapy is a partnership and my job is to help you achieve your goals, co-operating together for your benefit.
